Tahanan Filipino Center
A home for migrant workers & our families to gather safely
Our Mission
Tahanan Filipino Center brings together Filipino migrant workers, youth, and our families in Albany Park and the greater Chicago metropolitan area to build community and access support for services, resources, and referrals.
Our strategy and approach is anchored on the values and spirit of Bayanihan or collective and coordinated action, that is centered on the needs of migrant workers. We aim to foster community empowerment, leadership, advocacy, and action in addressing both the immediate and long-term needs of kababayan.
Our Programs & Services
-
Tahanan Filipino Center provides education for workers on rights, offers referrals to legal support and other services, coordinates direct support from community partners, and holds space for workers to be in community through food & dancing. Our programs aim to empower migrant workers through addressing immediate issues, especially around workplace and immigration issues, and building towards collective action and advocacy.
-
Tahanan’s youth leadership program provides space for high school youth in Albany Park and the greater Chicago area with opportunities to positively serve their communities. This program will contain skill-development workshops, Tagalog language classes, creative arts, and more!
